Municipal Power Companies
Municipal Power/Utility Companies are common in smaller cities and have an appetite for renewable energy. They are typically a not-for-profit organization and cannot use the income tax credits, depreciation and other incentives, so they have challenges with financing. We have a financing method through large investors called the Olson Plan which is a “Five Year Charitable Flip” process. In this plan, investors buy the project, harvest the tax incentives and then flip the project to the muni in after five years as a Charitable Contribution and receive another tax deduction.
